In recent times, the weather has
fluctuated, the province has appeared many rainy season and fog in the early
morning. This phenomena occurs at the time when the cashew is flowering flowers
affect the flowering, pollinating process; Some areas are hit by cotton pests.
However, the survey and
evaluation of the agricultural sector, on a large scale, the impact of weather
on cashew yield is negligible, even where rainfall is not expected to yield
higher than last year. Particularly for areas affected by rain, the level of
yield reduction effect is estimated at 5 - 10% compared to the case in 2016
(depending on the time of pollination of each garden).
Through reflection of the local
area of cashew dried, dry fruit is mainly due to anthracnose and
mosquito bite extract damage, reducing the yield of cashew. At present, the
anthracnose disease in cashew trees occupies a large area of
4,073 ha, mainly causing damage in Phu Rieng districts: 1.879 ha,
Bu Gia Map 838 ha, Dong Phu 307 ha, Bu Dang 256 ha. Tea mosquito bugs caused
damage to 3,627 ha of cashewnut, mainly in Phu Rieng district with 1,076 ha,
583 ha in Bu Gia Map district, 560 ha in Phuoc Long town, and 256 hectares in
Bu Dang.
The level of harm of these two
subjects from mild to moderate. However, some areas are harmed locally with the
level of damage up to 30-35% of productivity in some areas such as Phu Nghia
(Bu Gia Map) 200 ha. In Phu Rieng district, mosquito bugs caused serious damage
to 129 ha, mainly in Phu Trung, Phu Rieng, Long Ha and Phuoc Tan communes.
Apart from the anthracnose, tea
mosquito bugs and some other infested plants, at this stage, red caterpillars
have also emerged and caused relatively widespread harm. Through surveys and
data collected from communes in the province, the total area of
the red-tailed macaque was 55 hectares, with heavy losses in
Phuoc Tan, 11 hectares, Phu Rieng 9 hectares and Phu Trung 7. Ha, Long Ha 6 ha,
Long Tan 5 ha.
Facing with this situation, the
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has worked with the Cultivation
Department, the Plant Protection Department, the Southern Institute of
Agricultural Sciences and the Center for Plant Protection in the South
(Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development). Rural development) to survey
the actual pest and disease situation in most cashew areas in the province.
Through this assessment and assessment, pest and disease situation is well
managed. However, with the current weather patterns (heavy rain, high
humidity), the outbreak of disease in the crop is quite high. Farmers must
regularly visit the garden for timely detection and prevention plans.
