Cashew exports from Vietnam are up 11% over the first two months of the year, totaling 37 000 tons (t) and generating € 252.4 million, said Friday the Association of Cashew Vietnam (Vinacas) at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City.
Over the whole of 2015, Vietnam exported some 330 000 t of nuts for a turnover of nearly € 2.3 billion, an increase of 10% in volume and 15% in value compared to 2014 reports Le Courrier du Vietnam.
Vietnamese nuts are exported to 80 countries, the top 3 destinations (by volume) being the US (30%), followed by Europe (25%) and China r (15%). Over the past 10 years, Vietnam has remained in the list of top exporters of cashew nuts in the world, he emphasized, alone accounting for over 50% of world exports totaling € 4.5 billion.
Down 17% in India
However, in India, the exportatiosn fell 17% in 2015 to 109 769 t, according to customs data reported by Vinacas.
Like Vietnam, the United States remains the first customer bought with 26,148 t, but in fall of 11% compared to 2014. The United Arab Emirates was second with 20 174 t, down 1, 3%.
By contrast, exports rose 7.3% to Japan, the third importer of Indian nuts, with 7971 t.
